Out of The Hat

Making the Ordinary, Extraordinary

Lavender

Lavender

It has been warmer these past few days, so I’m hoping Spring will soon be sprung! Lavender and fragrant flowers bobbing in the breeze, honey bees flitting about, and a pile of cushions on the back deck while I cozen up to a good read.

The lavender is still out right now, though it’s leggy and most of the flowers are closed up. I was spending a spare moment on the front porch, blowing bubbles and watching as they burst on the woody stems. I blew them so they got tumbled about by the wind, clapping when they blew three feet away and cheering when they went six feet on without popping. I’m sure any passing neighbors would have wondered where the insane girl they were hearing was hiding, but I was thankfully hidden by some dormant shrubs out front. It was only a moment in my busy day, but it was still something special. It give me the strength to go on and face the pile of homework and dreadfully dull textbooks awaiting me inside with a glimmer of a grin.

*Edit: This looks so pretty, doesn’t it? It’s clear in the front and kind of faded in the background. Remember, I did this without Photoshop, or any smartphone apps.

We’re beginning to see the first signs of spring around here in the form of daffodils and hellebores. It’s so nice to see some color after all the brown!

Yes, it’s really exciting! I’ve already started some seedlings, and the Summer lavender pictured is starting to perk up, though we don’t have our daffodils or forsythia in bloom yet.

Oops! The ether may have eaten my comment. Anyway, I love lavender! And can’t wait to see it appear. We’re still a few weeks away — but soon, soon. ;-)

Aww, I’m sorry it takes so long for you! I love that I live in a place where the weather is always changing, I don’t think I could handle too much Winter or even a place with too much Summer or Spring like rains all the time. Maybe you could grow pots of plants indoors, or at least one? And I do like trees a lot too, maybe you could sculpt one of snow :)

  4. Me too… I am really looking forward for spring. Hopefully, it will arrive soon and we all see beautiful flowers blooming again, and lavender opening as well.

Yes! That will all be wonderful. In the meantime, I suppose we must simply live with the world we live in now. :)
