Making the Ordinary, Extraordinary

The New Black

I know that Pantone came out with their announcement that emerald green is this year`s color. That may even be true. For some people.

Those that base their style sensibilities off of what they are told in big media outlets will be wearing that this year. But. Not all of us follow the glossy pages and copy their style, like sheep led to creative slaughter. Some of us have imagination. And some of us just watch what real people are wearing to get a sense of what is in and what isn`t. I think that`s a much more organic process than simply deciding for yourself what colors others should wear and making an announcement.

So, in honor of the grass roots movement that is ever growing in the fashion world (especially among the new fashion elite: the twenty somethings/ South Koreans) I bring you this year`s actual color: Ruby Red. It`s everywhere! Nobody wants to blend into the ubiquitous sea of black at parties, they want to wear a classy bright red dress. The funeral look is over, people! Rain coats and peacoats, scarves and cat`s eye glasses, classic nails and chandelier earrings are all in red. Homes aren`t exempt, either. To punch up the universal beige and white walls, glass tile backsplashes are all about the red, and our still beloved burlap and canvas covered sofas are getting chic new red throws and pillows. It is a red dawn that we can all live with.

Here are some quick ideas for adding the latest color super star to your life, without breaking the bank.

Revlon`s Red Bikini, a slight orange tint to fit olive and medium skin types. Bright red would work on fair and very dark.

Ageless red heels in a classic silhouette make this a good investment. Punch these up with some shoe clips. $60

These heels aren`t too dark or light, so they are good for all skin tones! Ageless red heels in a classic silhouette make this a good investment. Punch these up with some shoe clips. $60

The dress is on Ebay now, so it will be gone in two seconds. A close look alike can be found at Delia`s.

A flared skirt and higher neckline are more in fashion this season than those tired old maxis. A peter pan collar is also a nice touch.

I actually just bought a dress exactly like this, but it was made just for me by a friend, so you can`t exactly buy it. I think this shade would look best on the fair skinned only.

A J Panda`s cute bento box would liven up my lunch break! As it is, bento boxes are very convenient with my frequent and on the run meals.

What do you think of the color?

Too much or just right?

Do you agree with my style forecast, or do you think that traditional haute couture is on the right course?

Remember, I always love to hear from you, no matter what your opinion is!

It helps to make one feel like a professional blogger to have a professional looking page. I think it makes the readers happier, too!

Well I persoanlly do what I do here. So I really have no opinion. I am a comfort first yuppie myself. As far as what to wear, what is not in the laundry and the weather. I am just not a fashion statement type.

You know, comfort is important. I love comfort. I just only feel comfortable when I know I look good, you know? I mean, I don`t wear heels, both because I`m tall and they are uncomfortable, and a lot of other things that I won`t wear despite how fashionable they may be. Remember the ear gauge trend? I never wanted to do anything like that! But I do like to wear things that make me feel pretty, as well as feel comfortable. I want both! You`ll notice I also did a bento box and a pillow, as I know fashion isn`t interesting to everyone.

What an exciting profession! I have to admit, not all my posts are about fashion, but I`ll be excited to hear more feedback from you in the future. :)
